Nuclear Sites

Over the last few years, the US National Nuclear Security Administration has investigated numerous UFO sightings around locations associated with nuclear materials. These objects were most likely drones, but the Protective Force Division of the Dept of Energy has been unable to verify that. Interestingly, this is not the only time UFOs have been seen around locations associated with nuclear weapons, testing, and disasters.

In 1945, the United States created the first nuclear bomb in New Mexico. During its development, "fireballs" were regularly seen in the sky of the surrounding area, but no official cause was ever released or determined. However, there are multiple theories. Some believe the "fireballs" could have been sophisticated US or Russian technology, alien UFOs, nuclear pollution, or lightning (King, 2020). UFO sightings did not stop there. According to Robert Salas, a retired Captain of the US Air Force, in 1967, a UFO was seen near and possibly shut down multiple nuclear ICBMs (Kaufmann, 2023). Like the previous case, there was no explanation.

In addition to the United States, other countries have had similar encounters with UFOs. According to a Statement to Congress written by George Knapp, an investigative journalist, there have been at least "45 incidents in which Russian warplanes engaged with UFOs" and other incidents that involved UFOs near and interacting with nuclear Russian ICBM sites (Knapp, n.d.). In addition to Russia, Japan has had similar sightings at Fukushima, the site of the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster of 2011. During the Fukushima disaster, witnesses claim to have seen UFOs around the power plant (Mitchell, 2023). Some have suggested that the UFOs protected them from nuclear radiation. Regardless of the reason for the UFO presence or if there were any UFOs at all, it is interesting how many UFOs are sighted around these areas. Could there be a unworldly reason?
